Shoulder Academy was created by a pool of surgical and shoulder rehabilitation specialists who have spent more than ten years studying and treating patients with the most effective and internationally recognized rehabilitation techniques.
This approach, which has now been widely established, aims to ensure the most effective integrated treatment to achieve the best possible results for the patient’s functional recovery.
Regular interaction with the best teams on the international scene means we can now offer an ultra-specialist and comprehensive training course to train competent professionals to rehabilitate their patients with the best assessment and treatment tools.
Why Sign Up For The Shoulder Academy?
- To be a certified physiotherapist, highly specialized in shoulder treatment and able to rehabilitate both preservative and post-surgical patients with competence and professionalism.
- To learn about the biomechanics that determine shoulder movements and recognize shoulder dyskinesia
- To acquire the best assessment tools and the ability to perform the necessary internationally accredited tests.
- To learn in detail all the specific rehabilitation routes both dry and in water.
- To be able to guarantee an excellent rehabilitation result and be supported by Dr. Di Giacomo’s rehabilitation team.
- To be able to collaborate with specialist surgical teams and become a point of reference for the rehabilitation of their patients.
Training Materials
The training course is supported by printed and multimedia training materials, which include extracts from the classroom lessons and more information about the subjects covered, a reference bibliography, and tutorial videos.
The teaching part of the lectures will be accompanied by a practical demonstration of the rehabilitation approach. This section will be performed by the teaching staff on the patient being examined as a clinical case and among the students with the support of tutors, in order to acquire and properly understand the techniques being examined.
For the practical exercises, all the tools you need for a clinical assessment and treatment setup are made available, starting with teaching tests, administering international assessment scales and computerized patient monitoring reports.
During the course, students have the opportunity to see for themselves everything that revolves around shoulder surgery, from the diagnostic framework to surgical technique, from the different types of access to the analysis of the dedicated equipment, acquiring the necessary information to make the right choices in the post-surgical treatment of the patient, receiving all-round shoulder training.
Learning Objectives
The objective of the course is to train students to acquire the correct programmatic approach to the shoulder.
From understanding the appropriate diagnostic framework to knowing the assessment criteria that are essential for the medical team to be able to make a diagnosis. From the ability to administer tests and assessment scales in order to provide an objective for the rehabilitation outcome.
At the end of the course, the student should gain knowledge of the principles of biomechanics, functional shoulder anatomy, pathology and the appropriate preservative approach to formulate the most appropriate rehabilitation strategy.
The course focuses on knowledge of surgical technique, the procedures of the reference medical team and the challenges that each technical act may present to adequately prepare the rehabilitation professional for a complete approach to a post-surgery patient.
To enable the appropriate acquisition of these skills, the course uses a Live Surgery program in collaboration with Concordia Hospital, where Dr. Giovanni Di Giacomo will show selected clinical cases, as well as a training internship at our facilities for a detailed understanding of the rehabilitation choices for the patient.
Our Facility
Fisio Point is an excellent multi-faceted facility that offers a multi-functional patient approach. This will enable you to work on multiple levels from manual therapy treatment, recommended in the early rehabilitation stages, to an integrated gym approach with the best of the latest generation tools for physical therapy and returning to sports, ensuring the patient gets back to their best functional level.
Fisio Point provides students with access to our pool with a dedicated therapist to acquire the tools needed to provide treatment in water for the various shoulder conditions examined.
The hydrokinesiotherapeutic approach is an essential tool, and Shoulder Academy will give you the opportunity to learn the treatment methods in practical terms and the therapeutic possibilities it offers.
